Application for a visa to work in Germany under sponsorship

To apply for a visa to work in Germany under sponsorship, you need to prepare a complete set of documents with the following:

  • Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate: Must be notarized and consular legalized.
  • Divorce papers or divorce decree: Full consular certification and legalization is required for all previous marriages.
  • Portrait: According to ICAO standards, light background, size 3.5×4.5 (cm), face occupies 70 – 80% of photo, no glasses or face covering.
  • Applicant's passport: Issued no more than 6 months and valid for 3 months or more after the registered stay.

  • Proof of accommodation in Germany: The certificate of household registration must have been issued within the last 6 months.
  • Proof of German language proficiency: German language proficiency must be certified at level A1 or higher.
  • German travel health insurance: Insurance benefits must be valid throughout Germany for the entire duration of stay (only available upon request).
  • Invitation letter from family member: If allowing relatives to stay in the same house in Germany, the sponsor needs to write an invitation letter for confirmation.
  • Proof of residence in Germany: It is necessary to confirm accommodation as soon as you arrive in Germany, either through the address in the invitation letter or the rental contract.

Note: All documents must be submitted in German or English, in original and two copies of each document. The applicant does not need to present a guarantee letter (Verpflichtungserklärung). For the insurance certificate, you only submit it when the consular officer informs you by phone. You may have to provide additional documents if requested by the German diplomatic mission in Vietnam.
