Metalworking technician
What do you learn during your training?
Metalworking technicians produce precision metal components for engineering products of all kinds. This could be hubs, gears, motors and turbines.
They program lathes, mills, and grinders and modify CNC machine programs for this purpose. They then clamp metal parts and tools into the machines, arrange them, and set the workflow in motion. They check whether the dimensions and surface quality of the workpieces meet the specifications. In case of errors, they look for the cause with the help of trial and error methods and eliminate the problem. They also take care of maintenance or functional testing on the machines.
